Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) Dried Root

Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) Dried Root | Biokoma
Valerian consists of many biologically active components: the essential oils (valerenic acid and valenol), valepotriates, and a few alkaloids, (actinidine, chatinine, shyanthine, valerianine, and valerine).

Benefits:
  • May help with insomnia and sleep disorders
Valerian may improve sleep. Valerian’s mild sedative effects have been always used to promote relaxation and sleep. One of valerian’s main effects appears to be reducing sleep latency, or the amount of time it takes to fall asleep. Valerian root is often combined with other sedating herbs, such as lemon balm (Melissa officianalis), to treat insomnia.
  • May reduce anxiety
Scientists have found that valerian root increases the amount of a chemical called gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA helps regulate nerve cells and calms anxiety.
  • May lower blood pressure
The same active components that make valerian root so effective for stress and anxiety management can also help the body properly regulate its blood pressure. Valerian root supplements can help naturally reduce blood pressure and keep it at a healthy level, which has a direct positive impact on your heart health.
  • May reduce menstrual cramps & premenstrual syndrome PMS
The antispasmodic, soothing, calming, and anti-inflammatory effects of valerian root help to relieve the discomfort caused due to menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome.
  • May improve Stress Management
By reducing anxiety and improving the length and quality of sleep, valerian root can significantly help with daily stress management.
